1st - 4th June 2018

Friday Arrive Toulouse airport (transfers to Le Closier) – build bikes – 3 course evening meal.

Early rise and generous breakfast before a mini-bus ride to Argeles-Gazost and register for the sportive. At 09:30am you will follow the Geant Ocatave up the west-side of the Tourmalet, arriving at the top to a carnival atmosphere.  Lunch and refreshments before descending the east side of the Tourmalet through the ski village of Mongie and into St Marie de Campan turning right along the valley climbing the Col d’Aspin from the west. The descent off the Col d’Aspin is one of our favourites, long clear stretches with good visibility. Turn left at the bottom of the Col d’Aspin which continues the gentle descent to velo le closier. Tea/coffee & Sue’s homemade cake will welcome you back. After a shower and changing, relax and regale your experience whilst enjoying a super evening meal.

Sunday Take a relaxed breakfast before setting off on a 45 mile flat-ish recovery ride.  Heading north into the flat lands along superb traffic free roads. A few short (2.5km & 1.2km 5% climbs) before dropping into the village of Montrejeau for a coffee. Leaving Montrejeau we drop into the valley and pick up a quiet cycle lane heading for St Bertrand de Cominges. After a look around the small walled town we head back to Velo Le Closier for afternoon tea & cake.  Another relaxing dinner and chat ends the day.
Monday Final day’s breakfast and possibly a quick escapade into the Barronies a beautiful and rather unknown to those other than the locals. This ride is around 1.5 - 2 hours but should not be underestimated. However, each climb is rewarded by the most wonderful descent the longest climb being around 5km. Once back at base dismantle your bikes and pack them in preparation for the return transfer to Toulouse.  Quick lunch before saying good bye to the Pyrenees and transfer to Toulouse.
